For more than 2000 years,reference to diabetes by the traditional Chinese medicine term appears in the earliest texts, including the first medical text in Chinese history, Huang Di Nei Jing, or The Yellow Emperor’s Inner Classic, Acupuncture and moxibustion and Chinese herbs traditionally have been used in the treatment of diabetes to reduce blood glucose levels and normalize endocrine function.
